June 20, 2019 marks 5 years in business for True Gritt Fencing! We feel so blessed and thankful to have come this far. The 2019 fencing season is ushering in some big changes for True Gritt Fencing that we are SO excited to share with you all. We have learned a lot in 5 years. Perhaps the biggest lesson is that one man cannot do it all. Our business has been steadily growing. With growth, comes growing pains. It has been a struggle for the past couple of years for Lewis to keep up with the phone calls, emails, quotes, and invoicing on top of the day-to-day fencing work. The 2019 fencing season has come with some big decisions to be made for our little company. Either we had to cut back on the amount of work we took on in a season in order to maintain quality customer service-which was our top priority when we decided to start our company-or we needed to make a conscious effort to grow. We are choosing growth.
SO…we have FINALLY launched a website! We want to make sure that our residential and commercial fencing clients have an easy way to see who we are, what services we offer, and contact us easily. Gaslamp Village Media has been more that patient with us and so accommodating. We just can’t thank Dave and his team enough for their help putting our web page together. And we can’t wait for you all to see it!
Another big change is that we will be carrying much more inventory than in previous years meaning that you handy people that want to build and maintain your own fence can now buy fence supplies and DIY fence supply packages from True Gritt Fencing. We will be offering chain link fence supply packages, vinyl fence supply packages, and ornamental fence supply packages at fair and competitive rates. If you are unsure of exactly how much you need, we will come do the measuring and the math for you and make sure you get exact fence supply package required. We are also happy to provide some pointers and tricks of the fencing trade to make sure your fence installation process goes smoothly!
We are also now able to offer temporary fence panels available for rent! Temporary fence panels can be used for construction projects, special events, or safety requirements. We do the delivery, set up, and tear down making temporary fence panels an affordable and easy addition to your project. If you are in need of a residential fence sooner rather than later, we offer our temporary fence panels for your yard free of charge until we can get there to do your job.
As we grow, we are also excited to be able to offer residential fencing services and commercial fencing services outside of Medicine Hat and surrounding area. We are now able to offer commercial and residential fencing services to Medicine Hat, Dunmore, Redcliff, Brooks, Bow Island, Maple Creek, Kindersley, Swift Current, and anywhere in between.
As we have grown, our goals have had to evolve, meaning our brand also had to evolve. In the process of building the website, we met with Deanna at Tag Concepts to help with the branding aspect of our business. She worked tirelessly with Lewis to get a sense of who he is as a human being, who we are as a company, and the goals we have personally and in business for the future of True Gritt Fencing. We have refreshed our logo and developed a tag line to make sure True Gritt Fencing looks as professional, dedicated, and tough as we feel. And in 2019, True Gritt Fencing will be more focused, streamlined, and have a better sense of who we are and where we are headed.
Deanna helped us come up with a tag line for our business. Truth in Gritt. We heard it. We loved it. But before we put it out to the world, we had to really reflect on what exactly “Truth in Gritt” means to us personally and professionally. When we chose True Gritt as our business name, we liked it because of the obvious John Wayne reference. Lewis thinks of himself as a bad ass cowboy. We have to beg him not to wear an eye patch out of the house. We also knew that we were in for a long road of challenges and hard work ahead. Though Lewis has over 20 years of fencing experience, it was going to be challenging for two people who knew virtually nothing about running a business to start a fencing company. To have grit means to have the passion and perseverance it takes to reach a long-term goal. We were going to need a lot of grit to survive the first 5 years of business. We will need even more grit to survive the next 5 years. So, what does “Truth in Gritt” mean to us? It means sticking to our truth even when the going gets tough. Our truth is that we do quality work that we are proud to stand behind. We don’t cut corners, no matter what the cost to our business. Our truth is that positive relationships with others are most important to us. Whether we end up doing the work for you or not, we hope that your interaction with our company is a positive one and we leave your day a little better off than when we found you. Our truth is that we are human, and though we will make mistakes, we will always own up to them and do our best to make it right. Our truth is that we are not happy unless our customers are happy and we will do whatever we can, whenever we can to make that happen. Our truth is that we do the right thing, even when it’s hard, even when it costs us personally or professionally. Integrity above all else.
2019 is going to be exciting and challenging. We are offering more services. We will still offer chain-link fencing, vinyl fencing, ornamental fencing, wood fencing, commercial fencing, residential fencing, custom fencing, and concrete curbing. We will also now be providing DIY fence supply packages and temporary fencing. We have hired more people to help us make sure customer service remains our top priority. We have launched this website to make sure our customers can contact us any time and find any information they need about us. Most importantly though, we want to be more than a fencing company. We want to be relationship focused. We want to give back to our community. We want to provide quality service first and have monetary gain simply be a happy bi-product of that service. “Truth in Gritt” has to be more than our tag-line. It must be our mantra.
